Southern Ohio concrete towers
Four concrete towers were built in the 1950s for the original purpose of carrying network television signals via TD-2 microwave. Networks were delivered to Dayton from Toledo via coaxial cable. From there, the microwave relay stations carried programming to telephone central offices in Columbus and Cincinnati, where it was distributed to the affiliate stations over coaxial cable. Toledo also originated coaxial television feeds to Detroit and served as a switching hub so the national networks could be sectionalized, or broken up, to carry separate programming (or commercials) as required.
