Looking south at the tower from the gate at the driveway
This was one of five relay sites between Columbus and Cincinnati and the last hop between Dayton and Columbus. The steel tower adjacent to the concrete building was added many years later. It's likely that additional height was needed to implement TJ-band service to and from Columbus, as the frequencies used by TJ (11 GHz) require nearly true line of sight between the stations. TD2 (4 GHz), in use when the concrete tower was built, follows the curvature of the earth to a greater extent, thus is usable at a lower antenna height.
