Studio building
The WILS studio building was built and occupied in 1967. The stonework is original. This is a view of the front lobby, with the main entrance door on the left behind the stone wall. The peaked cathedral ceiling was the main AM control room and studio when I worked there. Acoustically it was very echoey, with glass on four sides and a high ceiling, but it was a showcase for visitors who could look through the window behind the receptionist to see the personality on the air at the time. On the other side of the main control room/studio was an interview studio with a table, chairs and several microphones, and beyond it was the production control room where commercials were recorded and dubbed. To the left was the newsroom and to the right was the transmitter room and engineering shop.
