Radials secured to the ground
11 of 12
The radial wires are laid along the ground, and with time, the grass will grow up around them and they'll get buried just below the surface by thatch. Here, you can see the landscaping staple for holding the wire flush with the ground surface, taken just before pushing the staple flat into the ground. It takes from one to four staples to secure each wire, depending on length. Some wires are as short as five feet (where they abut the property line) while others are as much as 50 feet long. With ground-surface radials, length matters less than having as many wires as you can install. Hustler recommends at least twenty.
